Balsam & Clementine was the very first Pure Placid fragrance — the scent that made everything else possible. It was born from a feeling Marcy knew by heart: the crisp, clean air of dawn breaking over a windswept Adirondack summit, the fragrant earth underfoot, and the bright, sweet pleasure of a freshly peeled clementine.
It opens with the juicy burst of clementine and lemon — not sharp, not sugary, just purely uplifting. Balsam grounds it with the deep, resinous warmth of old-growth forest. Lavender runs through like a thread of calm, not pulling you toward sleep but toward steadiness. The result is a scent that lives in a beautiful in-between: grounded like the forest, bright like sun through the trees.

The Story Behind This Scent
As a kid, I was in charge of snacks for our family hikes. My favorite was clementines. They were heavy in the pack, but so worth it. There is nothing better than sitting on top of a wind-swept mountain, looking out on millions of acres of wilderness, the fresh alpine breeze in your face, and a juicy clementine in your hand.
That feeling — the bright sweetness against all that wild, open air — is what this scent is. It is not just a fragrance I created. It is the feeling that made me want to create fragrances in the first place. This is where Pure Placid began.
Light the candle in the kitchen on a slow morning before the day asks anything of you. Spray the room spray after you have cleaned the house, when you want the space to feel as fresh as it looks.
